The Ad Club of Western Massachusetts Announces Winner for Annual Scholarship
West Springfield, MA – The Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts announces the winner of their annual merit-based scholarship!
The Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts, the premier organization for all marketing and communications professionals in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, recently awarded their annual scholarship to support future generations of creative professionals. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to Mackenzie Martel, a deserving western Massachusetts high school graduate going to college to study communication arts. The scholarship will be awarded at the Ad Club’s Creative Awards show on Tuesday, September 14th in Union Station.
In the summer of 2020, Mackenzie realized her senior year would be far from normal because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Given this, she took advantage of doing dual enrollment at Greenfield Community College. With this opportunity, she already has 28 college credits completed at the same time as she graduates from high school. She will be attending Holyoke Community College Marketing Program in the fall of 2021. As a college student, Mackenzie’s goals are to excel in academics while majoring in marketing. With an education in marketing and graphic design she hopes to one day be able to help small businesses in her community with their social media presence.
“Growing up I always knew I would go to college, but I never really knew what I wanted to do. It wasn’t until I found my love for graphic design when I knew I wanted to follow that drive,” said Mackenzie. “I would like to formally thank anyone for reading this application and consideration in having me become a candidate for this scholarship.”
Candidates were judged on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service and/or work experience, a demonstrated interest in advertising, communications, marketing or graphic design, personal recommendations, and a letter of introduction outlining future plans. The Ad Club aims to promote a tradition of excellence in future generations of communications professionals and look forward to making this important contribution.
