CREATIVE MERIT AWARDS 2006 JUDGES-
This year, with the addition of new and expanded categories in the Call for Entries, the CMA Judging Committee chose a diverse group of award-winning, creative professionals for the 2006 panel of judges. This dynamic team of talented individuals included a fine artist/graphic designer and corporate Marketing specialist, a professional photographer and multimedia specialist, and the owner of a multi-million dollar Advertising Agency.  Local freelance artists, agency professionals,in-house advertising departments and students submitted over 200 distinct entries which, according to our judges, "represented some of the most innovative, creative and clever pieces" they have seen in their judging careers.

Richard “Casey” Danek-

Casey has a computer engineering background, having worked in the high tech field for a number of years.  However, his love for photography and, now videography, has led him away from high tech and into his passion for the visual arts.  Some of his recent clients include the Associated Press, Channels 4 and 7 in Boston, the Fox News Network and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

Stephen P. Rogers-

Stephen Rogers is executive vice president at gkv Communications, Inc., a $135 million full-service, marketing, communications firm headquartered in Baltimore, MD. A highly qualified advertising/communications professional with over 25 years of experience, Stephen’s prior positions included serving as president of Bates Southwest; a subsidiary of Bates Worldwide, one of the largest advertising and marketing communication networks in the world; president/principal and Chief Creative Officer for Black Rogers Sullivan Goodnight Inc., an $85 million advertising agency headquartered in Houston; and executive vice president/principal at Fogarty, Klein and Partners.

Stephen is the recipient of more than a hundred local, regional and national creative awards, including National ADDYs, EFFIE, Telly’s, AMA Crystal, BMA Lanterns, Best of the West, and two National Academy of Television Emmy Awards.  Stephen is a frequent guest speaker at ad clubs and universities and has served as a judge at ad club award programs across the country.

M. Emily Kane-

M. E. Kane is sole proprietor of Herald Hill Studios, a home-based freelance service in Athol, MA offering regional clients graphic design services and personally produced fine art pieces, specializing in building relationships with local non-profits to promote the environmental assets of the area.  Some of her recent work includes the Tully Reservation Painting Series featured at Ralphine’s Café in Easthampton, P.F. Newton Library in Royalston, Great Falls Discovery Center in Turners Falls, Athol Public Library and Green Trees Gallery in Northfield.  M.E. also provided planning, design and execution for a community-based outdoor mural project involving the creation of 14 painted panels to cover the deteriorated window casings at the Millers River Environmental Center in Athol.

Trained formally in theatre design, and classically in drawing, design and sculpture at Smith College, M.E. has also served as a Member Relations Coordinator, Internal Communications/PR Consultant, and Interim Director of Advertising and Corporate Communications to promote member retention and satisfaction and positively brand the non-profit insurance aspect of Fallon Community Health Plan.
